Out of Fuel Service

Run out of fuel in North Dalton (out of gas - as our American cousins would say)? We operate a comprehensive East Riding of Yorkshire Run Out of Fuel Service. We're able to come to re-fill your vehicle in the event that you are stranded on the motorway, on the side of the road far from a petrol station, or just at your home. Our engineers can attend with 10-20 litres of the right fuel (at pump price) to fill your car. They will handle the most common problems which might accompany running out of fuel - including airlocks, vehicle not starting, and even flat batteries caused by over-cranking.

Water Contamination or AdBlue Contamination

Fuel contaminated with water, irrespective of whether it is unleaded petrol or diesel, is usually an important condition to handle in a vehicle - particularly in present-day common-rail engines.

Having water or AdBlue inside your diesel or petrol will often contribute to idling problems, lumpy running, increased smoke and, if not dealt with correctly, quite possibly broken injectors. Water in petrol is quicker to remove than water in diesel - this is largely because diesel is an oil. In spite of this we are able to deal with both situations quite swiftly.

Keep in mind that any time the vehicle has been started on the fuel contaminated with water it will more than likely require a new fuel filter fitted seeing as the previous one will undoubtedly be totally wet and ineffective.

Wrong Fuel in Car London - Petrol in Diesel Car North Dalton

I'm not so hot for running on Sundays, and a while back was the same. I had just departed home filled with a wonderful Sunday roast cooked by the better half, and I was off to assist a fellow after he had put the incorrect fuel in his metallic yellow Cadillac DeVille. He was situated in North Dalton hence it wouldn't be long before I arrived with him. Just as I pulled up at the car and got busy draining he said to me "Praise the Almighty! I stupidly had my mind on other stuff and didn't grasp that I've put diesel in my petrol vehicle. Is it possible I created some problems through driving it?" I revealed that there probably should not be problems and also I would personally get the contaminated fuel drained right away for him. Obviously I got the contaminated fuel drained from the vehicle and filled it with the correct fuel, and so another pleased customer could continue his trip without any subsequent bother. The gentleman couldn't stop thanking me, and that is what tends to make operating on Sundays in East Riding of Yorkshire that tiny bit less painful for me personally!

How to find out if I put the wrong fuel in my car?

If you’ve just filled up at a petrol station and the cars starts to act a bit strange you might start to wonder if you accidentally put the wrong fuel in it.

Well, there are a few things to can check that will be able to tell you:

  1. How is the car responding? There are some very common misfuel symptoms which can be a good indicator of wrong fuel:
    • Loss of engine power – can feel like the car has run out of fuel
    • A lot of smoke (more than usual)
    • Engine coughing or starting to splutter
    • Won’t start – or keeps stalling.
  2. Look at your fuel receipt. It will state clearly if you filled up with diesel or unleaded. If you don’t have the receipt, you can often return to the petrol station where you filled up and give them the date and time (and pump) where you refueled and they will often be able to give you a VAT receipt.
  3. Smell it. Diesel and petrol have very distinctly different smells. Anyone familiar with the motor industry should be able to help you with this. Or you could even get another car to park alongside and smell the fuel caps of both, comparing them to determine what the fuel type is.
  4. Call us to come out and assess the car. In the majority of cases we will be able to tell if the car has been misfueled before beginning work on it. If we discover that the vehicle does not need a fuel drain, you will only be charged a call-out fee.
